Do I like AI? sure, Do I love it? No.
In 2025 I will celebrate 25 years in the digital art and graphic design field.
Fresh out of design school the future seemed limitless, but the past decade or so has chipped away at my industry and brought serious challenges to my field. I believe if we aren't careful AI may be the final nail in the coffin. Photography, Illustration, Design and many more creative Industries are already feeling its impact.

I recently read an article that said "An over-reliance on AI for creative inspiration and execution could lead to a stagnation in human ingenuity." I refuse to let that happen to me, so I'm very careful how I use this new tool.

Here's what I've been doing..

To create the images below, I drew a rough sketch (very rough lol) in Adobe Illustrator. I then uploaded that image to an ai interface for rendering. I used the text to image feature and typed "dynamic shot of a Majestic Bald Eagle, flying with a Bowling Pin clutched in his talons." After a few minutes tweaking the settings, lighting etc, I downloaded the best images and added the event logo and touchups in Adobe Photoshop.

AI has saved me tons of time, looking though images of stock photography.
Websites like Getty and Shutterstock (and the photographers who sell their images on those sites), will be greatly impacted.
I type "Tall glass of lemonade, hibiscus flower, on a backyard porch railing, at sunset" and it spits out 4 beautiful images to choose from like magic.
When I need a lens flare, overlay, or object to make an art piece more interesting, I just type "wood texture" "old movie reel" "lens flare" and I get these.
AI can provide an image of a filmstrip, but I'm still needed to fill those individual film squares with snapshots of the event. add the logos at the bottom of a poster. so I suppose My job is still safe, for now. ;p
